First :
Faster Processing for Spousal Temporary Resident Visas
The Canadian government has implemented measures to expedite the processing times for spousal applicants seeking temporary resident visas (TRVs). This means that families can be reunited sooner while waiting for their permanent residence applications to be finalized. Under these new measures, most spousal TRV applications will now be processed within 30 days, significantly reducing the waiting period.
Second :
Dedicated Processing Tools for Spousal TRV Applicants
To further improve the application process, Canada has introduced dedicated processing tools for spousal TRV applicants. These tools are specifically designed to cater to the unique circumstances of spouses and dependents. By streamlining the process, the Canadian government aims to ensure a more considerate and efficient experience for families going through the reunification process.
Third :
Open Work Permit for Spousal and Family Class Applicants
Canada recognizes that newcomers often seek employment opportunities to support themselves and their families. As part of these new measures, the government has introduced an open work permit for spousal and family class applicants who have temporary resident status and reside with their sponsor in Canada. This means that spouses, partners, and dependents can now apply for and receive an open work permit as soon as they submit a complete permanent residence application under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class or other family class programs.
Fourth:
In addition to the open work permits, the Canadian government has also announced an extension option for spousal applicants and other open work permit holders. Those whose open work permits are set to expire between August 1 and the end of 2023 will be eligible to extend their work permits for an additional 18 months. This extension will provide continued job opportunities and stability for individuals while they await their permanent residence status.
Fifth:
Recognizing the importance of immigration in addressing labour shortages, these new initiatives align with the Canadian government’s commitment to strengthen family reunification and facilitate temporary resident status for spouses, partners, and dependent children awaiting permanent residence. These measures not only prioritize family unity but also contribute to filling crucial gaps in Canada’s labor market.
